THROUGH THE ARTIST`S EYES

Aarne Ruokokoski (b.1995) paints nature and people in a naturalistic style. For him, capturing atmosphere and a sense of life on the canvas is more vital than mere replication of detail: there is always something within his works that a photograph cannot capture. In landscapes, his inspiration often sparks from a fleeting gleam of light, while in portraiture, he focuses on the subject`s gaze and the imagery it evokes.

Ruokokoski graduated as a visual artist in the summer of 2025 from the Saint Petersburg Academy of Arts named after Ilya Repin. Currently he is working in Padova, Italy.

THOUGHTS ON ART

Harmony through contrasts: I seek balance and depth in my paintings by exploring the tension between opposing elements.

Details and unity: Precise details and a strong overall composition work together to create an image where time seems to stand still.

The pulse of life: My goal is to make each piece feel alive. The interplay of light and shadow, along with color, are my essential tools for evoking atmosphere.

An enduring experience: Every painting originates from a profound experience, designed to leave a lasting impression on the viewer.
